Enquire询茶ENYears on the mountain left me with a special love for the lotus; I have painted it many times. Last May I was halfway through this one when something called me away. Shidi saw the wet brush and simply picked it up and painted straight onto the canvas.
I came back and — ai-ya — my lotus stems had grown thick and sturdy! I would never have painted them that way; the petals too, she added strokes I would have drawn as careful, traditional lines. The more I look, the more interesting it becomes.
A child’s heart holds no stray thoughts. The brush goes straight down; what appears is exactly what is inside — innocent, unguarded, free. I thought a practitioner’s daughter would be quiet like me. She is not. She is a lively spirit. She is my colour; she is my light. This painting means a great deal to me: we made it together.
多年在山上修行,对莲花有特殊的喜爱,创作了很多以莲花为主题的作品。去年五月,画这幅作品画了一半,有事走开一会,诗迪看到就抓起我的笔,直接在上面就画。
我一看,哎呀,把我的莲花杆子画得好粗壮!按我自己的想象,我可能不会这样去画,包括这个莲花的花瓣,她上去直接加这几笔,越看越觉得有意思。
孩子的内心没有杂念,直心下笔,每一笔下去就是她内心呈现的样态,天真烂漫,很自在。我曾想修行者的女儿会像我一样安静——但她不是,她是活泼的精灵,是我的色彩,是我的光。这幅作品我觉得很有意义,是我和女儿一起创作的。
